The Crystal Ball...A Magical Night of Fantasy & Fun
2013 Gala Event.
Pretty ‘n’ Pink recently celebrated the charity’s 3rd consecutive annual gala event. Taking place during breast cancer awareness month, the gala ball is one of the key events of the charity’s calendar year, and this year attendees were treated to ‘A Magical Night of Fantasy & Fun’ at The Crystal Ball.
Queens University Belfast was the selected venue for the Harry Potter themed event. The opulent surroundings of The Great Hall with its high ceiling, panelled walls, and colossal fireplace provided the perfect backdrop for a Potter themed drinks reception by sponsor alska Cider. In true Potter style guests were entertained with our very own Harry and Hermoine, along with a dazzling display by World of Owls.
Guests then made their way across the forecourt to the iconic Sir William Whitla Hall, where the scene had been set for the evening with decor by Ferguson Flowers and Cameron Landscapes, along with a very special ‘enchanted forest’ sculpture custom made for the event by Jaymie Elliott.
Host for the evening was everyone’s favourite presenter Stephen Clements who kept guests entertained through the night, assisted on occasion by the lovely Pretty ‘n’ Pink volunteers.
A delicious three course meal was served while guests were left amazed by Rodd Hogg who entertained with his own special brand of close up magic. Live music was provided by the Jukebox Jurors who rocked the stage and had the dance floor filled.
There was the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes from spot prizes, the raffle and star prize draw, as well as a very special Crystal Prize for one lucky guest consisting of a bottle of Cristal Champagne and a pair of Swavorski Crystal Ball earrings. A silent auction ran throughout the night, lots were a signed Rory McIlroy cap, a painting by Marie-Claire Fine Art, a five day return crossing from P&O European Ferries, and a champagne helicopter trip across the Mournes from Slieve Croob Flying Club.
All good things must come to an end and we are delighted to say the night was a great success raising over £6200 for the Pretty ‘n’ Pink Small Grants Programme that provides practical help and support to breast cancer patients and their families across Northern Ireland.
Sincere thanks go out to all who helped make the evening possible.
